The use of videos and video modeling is a well-recognized and commonly utilized technique to teach individuals a variety of skills. Video modeling is based on observational learning and uses a video of a modeled skill or set of skills.

Video modeling has been well-researched and supported as an effective technique for teaching and enhancing social behaviors in children.

Video modeling demonstrates to a learner what a skill looks like when it is done both correctly and incorrectly.

You probably have used it yourself to learn something new! Have you ever….

    • Watched a You Tube video to learn how to fix something around the house?

    • Have you watched an exercise video to learn how to work or stretch a certain part of your body?

    • Have you watched experts apply makeup, dance, bake, or cook?

If you answered yes, then you have learned or practiced a skill using video modeling!

  • Bx utilizes video modeling to expose learners to foundational social behaviors in common social interactions. Bx animated videos capture learners' attention and give them practice with social skills. Bx utilizes effective and proven teaching techniques to break skills down into smaller parts, provides practice with skills across multiple examples, and provides immediate feedback based on responses.

Social skills are necessary for creating and developing relationships. Some individuals need more direct teaching to acquire the skills needed to build friendships, play with others, and have more effective and positive interactions. Some learners experience problems with learning social skills in day-to-day interactions and require more direct teaching of skills, repeated exposure to skills, and increased practice with social skills before they can apply them in person-to-person interactions.

Bx provides a safe, easy, and fun learning experience while delivering repetition and practice of skills to prepare kids for real-life interactions.

Bx has created a unique and easy way for kids to access social skills lessons, practice skills in a variety of examples and situations, and get feedback from a coach based on their responses.

  • Playing with others involves many complex skills that take learning a skill, practicing a skill, and refining the skill. Sadly, social skills are often overlooked as part of educational experiences and cognitive-behavioral therapies.

Teaching social skills can be complicated and time-consuming for professionals. Effective teaching strategies need to build upon learner strengths, capture motivation, and break down skills into smaller components.

Extensive research has been done on social skill building, and the growing need for effective social skill-building access has been identified as urgent! One of the most powerful predictors of overall well-being is social acceptance. Friendship formation and learning to build connections with others starts at a very young age. As children develop, friendships shift from play-based to conversation-based. The rules and skills around these interactions have to grow and develop as the child does.

  • In the App and Dashboard, you can select “therapist view.” This will allow you to view content without questions being present. This is a feature you can use if you want to work on skills before your student answers questions and data is collected.
